Did you know that just under 3 billion litres (660 million gallons) of water is lost to leaks every day across England and Wales? That's equivalent to 1,180 Olympic swimming pools!
Under Ofwat's performance commitments the water industry will aim to cut leakage by 16% by 2025. This will save enough water to meet the needs of everyone in Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol, Sheffield and Liverpool. Wow!
But getting there won't be easy, and while the industry is turning to technology to be able to detect leaks much quicker and faster we also believe prevention will be a powerful ally in helping the industry meet Ofwat's targets.
As leaks predominantly occur between the joints, connections and fittings in a pressure pipework system it's absolutely vital that the joints are well made in order to provide a robust and reliable solution to last the life time of the system.
